The purpose of this site is to provide information about property rights implications of the implementation of "sustainable development" embedded in the Tuscaloosa Forward plan.
Supporting local agriculture and conserving the environment are great things that just about everyone feels good about. But peoples' genuine concernn for the environment has been co-opted by powerful multinational corporations. There is a lot of money pushing "sustainable development" and US environmental policy is being shaped by people with connections to Enron, big banks and big oil. (see: Big Oils Tree Huggers.)
So sustainable development may sound good on the surface but further investigation tells us that it has led to property rights abuses and economic damage to individuals in other US communities where it has taken root. Sustainable Development policies are codified in a United Nations program called Agenda 21 which the Federal Government has been in the process of implementing since 1992.
